Aaron is a student at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, where he is pursuing a M.A. in Public Policy. His college studies included a B.A. in English Literature, with minors in Philosophy and Mexican American Studies.
Mr. Barrera is placed in the office of State Representative Rene Oliveira.
Claudia Briseño
Brownsville, Texas

Claudia is a participant in the St. Edward's University College Assistance Migrant Scholarship (CAMP) program. She received her B.A. in International Relations with an emphasis on European Studies and a focus on German. She minored in Criminal Justice and would like to work in law enforcement.
Ms. Briseño is placed in the office of State Representative Norma Chávez.
Adell Cruz

Moreno Intern
Adell is completing her studies at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. She will receive a degree in Communications and a minor in International Relations. She is inspired by her seven year old daughter, and plans to establish an organization to help teen mothers continue in higher education.
Ms. Cruz is placed in the office of State Representative Dora Olivo.
Nicole Drozd
San Antonio, Texas

Rangel Fellow
Nicole graduated from the University of Texas San Antonio with a graduate degree in English. She has written for numerous publications, including The San Antonio Business Journal and Broker/Agent Magazine. She interned at CNN in Washington, D.C., and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity and the United Way.
Ms. Drozd is placed in the office of State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer.
Oriana Fernandez
Eagle Pass, Texas
Univ. of Houston
Moreno Intern
Oriana graduated Valedictorian of her high school class, and has taken leadership roles ever since. She is about to graduate from Rice University with a degree English, and commits her free time to children through organizations like Babe Ruth Softball, Best Buddies, and the National Women’s Basketball League.

Ms. Fernandez is placed in the office of State Representative Lon Burnam.
Luis Galvan
Odessa, Texas
UT – Permian Basin
Moreno Intern
Luis is a student at the University of Texas, pursuing degrees in Chemistry and Biology. He became interested in politics when he served as Student Body President and strongly believes that one person can make a difference.
Mr. Galvan is placed in the office of State Representative Pete P. Gallego.
Mia Garza
Hebbronville, Texas
UT - Austin
Moreno Intern
For the past four years, Mia has been studying Spanish Literature and Portuguese at the University of Texas at Austin. She plans to return to school for her PhD and pursue Hispanic studies and educational advocacy work.
Ms. Garza is placed in the office of State Representative Elvira Reyna.
Orlando Gutierrez
San Antonio, Texas
St. Mary's
Rangel Fellow
Orlando has traveled extensively to Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Honduras, Ireland, France and Italy, and earned a Bachelor and two Masters degrees from St. Mary’s University. He plans to return to school to earn his JD, and continue his study of the Post-Modern world.
Mr. Gutierrez is placed in the office of State Representative Rick Noriega.
Luis Martinez

Luis comes to the Foundation from Southern Methodist University, where he received his Bachelor in Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He has seven brothers and a sister, and plans to attend law school.
Mr. Martinez is placed in the office of State Representative Roberto Alonzo.
Zulema Mendoza
Dallas, Texas

Most recently, Zulema graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She was a double major in Finance and International Studies, and minored in French. She received SMU’s Dorothy Amann Award for outstanding community service and plans to be an attorney.
Ms. Mendoza is placed in the office of State Representative Joe Moreno.
Lizette Montiel
Laredo, Texas
UT - Austin
Moreno Intern


Lizette brings years of political experience to this year’s Moreno/Rangel class. She received a Bachelor of Science in Political Communications from the University of Texas at Austin and has worked with Martin & Salinas Public Affairs, Inc., Austin City Council Member Raul Alvarez, and Texas State Representative Richard Raymond. Ms. Montiel is placed in the office of State Representative Richard Raymond.
Corrina Noriega
San Benito, Texas
Bond University - Australia
Rangel Fellow


Corrina comes to the Moreno/Rangel Program after receiving a Rotary Ambassadorial scholarship to attend school in Australia, where she finished her Master’s degree at Bond University. Her background includes three years as a public high school educator. Ms. Noriega is placed in the office of State Representative Carlos Uresti.
